Headless vs Screens

Headless vs Screens

The tech is ready for a world where our agents do the clicking, but society will take years longer to get there, so the builders who win will serve the screens people use today while building for the agents they’ll use tomorrow. I have been listening to talks by Daniel Miessler and DHH where they describe where they believe the future is going. See AI’s predictable path, Rails Keynote by DHH, and DHH and Lex Fridman podcast.

Today LLMs have access and capability to write code and execute commands on your computer. They also have the ability to use your browser and computer the way you would through tools like computer use.

In some sense, I have some level of that capability myself, using LifeOS and some very powerful tools to do some very powerful things. We are transitioning into headless AI agents over UI based SaaS products, but the majority of people fall into the early and late majority and are unlikely to get there for a while.

Remember, adoption happens slower than expected.

PS: Adoption of AI technology is happening faster than any other technology in the history of the human race.
